MediaTek today announced the Pentonic 1000 high-end TV chip with 4K 120Hz HDR display support.

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 TV Chip Display​

The MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports Dolby Vision IQ and can even process multiple Dolby Vision streams in parallel. In addition, the chip allows the TV to display up to 8 video streams simultaneously.

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 TV Chip Gaming​

The MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports variable refresh rate inputs up to 4K 144Hz and has an automatic low latency mode (HDMI defined standard). In addition, the chip can stream games from the cloud via the built-in low-latency Wi-Fi 6/6E connection.

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 TV Chip Video Decoding​

The MediaTek Pentonic 1000 is the first to support the upcoming H.266 format, or VVC format. The chip also supports HEVC, VP9, AVS3 and AV1, as well as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, which are common today.

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 TV Chip Interfaces​

MediaTek Pentonic 1000 supports HDMI 2.1FRL 48Gbps and up to 4 USB ports.

MediaTek said that the first TVs with the Pentatonic 1000 are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2023.
