Recently, the report "Subjective Evaluation of Movie Picture Quality/Visual Comfort and Related Optical Performance Evaluation of Portable Display Devices and TVs (OLED & LCD)" led by CESI (China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute) was released.

The test focused on the optical performance of display devices, subjective picture quality experience and visual comfort and other dimensions related to the user's viewing experience, portable display devices (such as cell phones), OLED TVs and LCD TVs to conduct a horizontal comparison test, resulting in a series of subjective conclusions.

1. TV screen comparison test (65" OLED & LCD screen)

Test conclusion: OLED TV has an advantage in the objective index test when compared with QD-LCD TV. It also has a clear advantage in all items of subjective picture quality evaluation. At the same time, in the comfort evaluation, OLED TV has a clear advantage in scoring all options of the description of visual comfort (eye pain, heavy eyes and face, dry eyes, harsh eyes and fatigue) due to its moderate brightness.

Of all the conclusions, we note in particular that in the comparison test between OLED TVs and QD-LCD TVs, the OLED TVs outperformed the comparison products in almost all test and subjective evaluation items.

It should be noted that the comparison test between OLED TVs and QD-LCD TVs was done in movie mode, so it can be understood that OLED TVs have a more desirable experience in movie viewing scenarios.

2. OLED and comparative evaluation results with QD-LCD TVs

Optical characteristics evaluation results

In the evaluation of the optical characteristics, the contrast ratio, color gamut, and viewing angle of OLED TV are higher than those of the QD-LCD TVs tested, and the blue light output of OLED TV is smaller than that of the QD-LCD TVs tested.

Picture quality evaluation results

The picture quality evaluation results in movie mode, the OLED TV picture "naturalness", "contrast ratio", "brightness", and "overall preference " are better than the participating QD-LCD TVs.

Visual comfort evaluation results

Visual comfort is an expression of the level of reduction of visual fatigue issued by viewing display devices, as can be seen from the results of OLED TV in "eye pain", "heavy eyelids", "dry eyes ", "blinding", "eye fatigue" and other subjective evaluation results are better than the participating QD-LCD products, can be intuitively understood that OLED is more effective in reducing visual fatigue of the TV category.

With the physical characteristics of self-emitting light, OLED TV in the color vividness, darkfield detail performance, etc., relative to the traditional LCD TV already has a high-end reputation visible to the naked eye.
