A Games tab has turned up in Prime Video and it's Luna running underneath it. Fallout GOTY Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in the launch batch, US and UK only, nothing to download and nothing extra to pay on top of Prime. Amazon says new titles get added monthly. Controller or phone as the input.
Burying it inside Prime Video instead of behind its own app is the smart bit. Luna launched back in 2022 and I'd bet most people here have never opened it once. Putting it in the tab strip next to the thing everyone already launches is the only distribution move that was ever likely to work.
Whether it survives the living room is the other question. Cloud gaming on a TV lives or dies on the last hop, and a stick on 2.4GHz in a back bedroom is a completely different experience to the same session over ethernet. Hogwarts Legacy will look fine in a trailer. Indiana Jones with a pad over patchy Wi-Fi, with whatever processing your panel is doing stacked on top, will not feel the way it does locally. If the TV never drops into its low latency path you're adding display lag to network lag before your thumb has moved.
For a Saturday afternoon with people over who don't own a console, this is decent value inside something you already pay for. For anyone who plays seriously it's a demo.
Has anyone checked whether Game Mode actually engages on the TV while the app is streaming? My worry is the panel just treats the whole thing as another video stream.
