Quad Artera and a 3k budget for stand mounts: R3 Meta or Rubikore 2?

Start with the amp, because it narrows this more than the shortlist does. Someone on AVForums is running a Quad Artera pre and stereo power amp, has up to 3,000 pounds including stands, and is choosing between the KEF R3 Meta and the Dali Rubikore 2. Listening diet is 80s rock and 70s soul.

That music choice matters more than most people admit. Neither of those genres is asking for subterranean bass extension. What they want is midrange presence, a tweeter that doesn't turn compressed 80s production into an ice pick, and enough dynamic headroom to survive a loud chorus without hardening up. Both candidates can do that; they get there differently. The R3 Meta is a three-way with the coaxial Uni-Q driver, which is why its imaging holds up when you move off the sweet spot - useful if the sofa is wide and you are not always sat dead centre. Dali's house voicing runs warmer and more forgiving, which suits older soul recordings and can flatter thin remasters.

The part that keeps getting forgotten is the "including stands" clause. Decent filled stands are not a rounding error, and a cheap stand under a good standmount is a genuine downgrade, not a saving. Budget properly for them first, then see what's left for the speakers.

Honestly, at that ceiling I'd also want to know why it has to be a standmount at all. If the room allows it, a floorstander at the same money changes the bottom two octaves entirely.

Anyone here run either of these off Quad amplification? That combination is where the real answer lives, not in generic reviews.
