Roku Ultra 2019 review: not bad, also is not worth $100

At $100, the Roku Ultra is the most expensive player in Roku's lineup, so what does it offer that the $60 Streaming Stick Plus ($48 at Amazon) doesn't? Its extra features are mostly remote-orientated, and include a remote finder, a headphone jack and a pair of keys that let you program your own shortcuts. It's also a hair faster at launching apps.

The Good The Roku Ultra 2019 has a few neat conveniences including a voice remote with programmable shortcut buttons. It's slightly faster than earlier Rokus. Ease of use remains best-in-class, and its Ethernet port is a boon for folks with spotty Wi-Fi.

The Bad The $100 Ultra's extras aren't worth the money over the cheaper Streaming Stick Plus. The Ultra still doesn't offer Dolby Vision HDR.

The Bottom Line The 2019 Roku Ultra (2019) is a very good 4K streaming box that puts convenience at the fore, but lack of Dolby Vision and a high price compared to other Rokus hold it back.
