SAMSUNG S90D TV: Is Dolby Atmos and AI Upscaling Enough to Justify its Price in a Sea of OLED Options?

When it comes to televisions, the conversation often dances between features and real-world usability. The Samsung 55-Inch Class OLED S90D Series claims to elevate your viewing experience with a slew of impressive specs—everything from OLED technology to AI upscaling. But how much of this is genuinely transformative, and how much is just marketing fluff?

In this review, we’ll dive into the nitty-gritty of what this TV brings to the table. Is the Real Depth Enhancer a game changer, or just another gimmick? Is 4K AI upscaling truly revolutionary, or is it merely repackaged nostalgia for our old HD favorites? And let's not forget about the Motion Xcelerator—can it really keep up with the fast-paced action we crave, or is it just another piece of tech jargon?

Join me as we dissect the features that matter, and question whether this latest model is truly worth your investment or merely another shiny object in an already overcrowded market.

System Experience

My experience with the setup process for my new TV was fairly straightforward, but I did encounter a few hiccups. I was excited for its arrival, but the delivery was a bit stressful. Initially scheduled for Thursday, it was postponed without notice, and I ended up waiting for what felt like ages. When it finally arrived, I appreciated the two-man team that helped bring it upstairs, but I certainly wish the communication about the delivery was clearer. The TV itself was quite heavy, so having extra hands was essential.

Viewing Experience

Wow, the picture quality is absolutely stunning! The colors are vibrant and the detail is incredibly sharp. Watching my favorite shows or movies feels immersive, almost like stepping into another world. I was especially impressed with how well it handled fast-paced sports. The clarity and refresh rate made every play feel like I was right there in the stadium. I can't get enough of the deep blacks and bright colors that truly bring every scene to life.

Audio Experience

Surprisingly, I found the sound quality to be quite good without any additional soundbar. The audio is clear, and I can easily hear dialogue without straining. It’s nice to enjoy a movie without it being too loud or overwhelming. However, I do plan to add a sound system for a more theater-like experience once I can find the right setup.

Other Experience

While I love the TV itself, I have to say that the software experience has been quite frustrating. The default Samsung app loaded up when I turned it on, and I had a couple of awkward moments with inappropriate content flashing across the screen. The interface feels clunky, and it’s been a challenge to navigate through. I find myself wishing for a more user-friendly experience, especially since I want to ensure my family isn't subjected to random content.

Conclusion

Pros:
The pros definitely outweigh the cons for me. The picture quality is top-notch, and the sound is impressive for a flat-screen TV. The setup was relatively easy once the delivery confusion was sorted out. Plus, the price I got it for was a steal considering the quality of the display. It’s a beautiful addition to my living room, and I can't help but admire it every time I walk in.

Cons:
On the downside, the software experience has been a letdown. The interface feels outdated, and I've had issues with content playing automatically that I don't want to see, especially around my kids. Additionally, the remote is a little awkward to use, which adds to the frustration when trying to navigate through the options quickly.

Overall Evaluation:
Overall, I’m really pleased with my new TV, despite the software frustrations. The stunning picture quality and decent sound make it a fantastic addition to my entertainment setup. Once I work out the kinks with the software and figure out how to customize it better, I anticipate many enjoyable movie nights. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the tech issues smooth out over time!

Dude, this TV is legit! I picked it mainly because I heard it’s great for gaming on consoles, and let me tell you, it totally lives up to the hype. The response time is on point, which is a total win. The colors pop like crazy, and the blacks? Super deep, like midnight dark. Samsung really knows how to deliver quality.

The only annoying thing is that as soon as I log into my Samsung account, it starts auto-playing all these random TV shows I don’t even care about. I gotta figure out how to turn that off because it’s driving me a little nuts!

The picture quality is amazing! The Samsung app and remote make streaming a total breeze. I got the big TV delivered to my apartment by Amazon for just a little fee, and the service was top-notch. The only hiccup I had was that the first TV short-circuited after just six weeks, but I heard that’s not too rare for this model. No worries though, Amazon had my back and swapped it out super quick—picked up the broken one and delivered the new one in just four days. Seriously, their customer service is awesome!

So, just like a bunch of other folks have said, after a few months, my TV just decided it didn’t want to turn on anymore. I gotta say, the tech support team was pretty awesome, but it took them over a week to come out and sort it out. For more than two grand, it’s a real letdown having to call for help like that!

I’m totally loving my new TV! The picture is super crystal clear, and I don’t even need a fancy sound bar. It’s super easy to use too! I’ve got it set up in my bedroom, and I can see and read everything perfectly. It honestly feels like I’m right in the movie! The sound is just right—not too loud, so I can catch all the dialogue without missing a beat. I’m really happy with it, and the price was a steal!

You've gotta check out this TV! Seriously, it's amazing. I think it totally beats the QLED series. The blacks on this thing? They’re the real deal—like, they actually turn off instead of just trying to fake it. You won't regret it!

Awesome pic! I usually keep the sound off. The only real downside is the interface—it's a total jumble and seems to care more about shoving ads in your face than actually working well. I’d say go for the TV, just be ready to get a bit frustrated while you’re setting it up!
