Samsung and LG will continue to expand the application range of OLED display panels in 2022. Samsung will launch its first OLED TV during the CES 2022 Consumer Electronics Show to compete with LG.

Samsung's high-end TVs currently on sale use LCD panels + Mini LED backlights, QLED quantum dot lighting technology, and a maximum resolution of 8K. The new TVs that will be released next year will use true OLED self-luminescence, using Samsung's self-developed QD-OLED quantum dot technology. This technology is different from the WOLED currently used by LG, providing consumers with a variety of choices.

Samsung Electronics plans to showcase OLED TVs for the first time at the Samsung First Look event before the start of CES. LG currently almost monopolizes the manufacture of medium and large OLED panels, and is the only manufacturer of such panels in the world. Although Samsung tried to produce 55-inch OLED TVs before, it later focused on LCD LCD TVs due to technical problems.

Samsung's QD-OLED panel uses blue OLED as a light source, and places red and green quantum dot materials on it to generate different colors. LG's WOLED panel emits light by vertically stacking blue, yellow, and green OLED light sources, and the combination of the three types of light can produce white light.
