Sony is reportedly planning to unveil the PS5 Slim console in August, with an expected price tag of $399.99, the same as the PS5 Digital Edition.

According to Shpeshal Nick, co-founder of the gaming blog XboxEra, Sony may host a PlayStation Show event in August to announce the PS5 Slim. Additionally, Colin Moriarty, a reliable source, mentioned that Sony will hold a new PlayStation Showcase later this year, and Mr. Bao, the Director of PlayStation China Game Development, also hinted at another "presentation" event.

Rumors suggest that the PS5 Slim may be the much-talked-about version with a removable disc drive. Tom Henderson previously stated that Sony is working on a minor revision of the PS5, expected to be released around September 2023. This new version will feature a removable disc drive that can be connected to the console via an additional USB-C port on the back, which the existing PS5 Digital Edition does not support.

Earlier speculations indicated that Sony would release a smaller redesign of the PlayStation 5 this year, but it might not be labeled as the PS5 Slim. The new "ultra-thin" version is said to have undergone significant changes, with a smaller form factor, reduced power consumption, lower operating temperatures, and a more lightweight design.

Furthermore, Microsoft predicts that Sony's upcoming Project Q handheld streaming console will likely be priced below $300.

As the information is based on speculations and statements from various sources, it's essential to keep an eye out for official announcements from Sony to confirm the details regarding the PS5 Slim and other potential events.
