Twitch issued the following statement to IGN:

"We recently made the difficult decision to remove the Twitch app from the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo remains a valued partner and we appreciate all of the support the Switch community has provided to Twitch and our streamers.”

A quick check on the eShop store page reveals that the Twitch app for the Nintendo Switch was first introduced in 2021. However, its functionality was limited to viewing live streams on Twitch, and it didn't support live-streaming content from the Switch to Twitch or even viewing stream comments. Users were required to scan a QR code on the Switch with their smartphones to open a mobile webpage.

This development signifies a change in Twitch's strategy regarding its presence on the Nintendo Switch platform. Despite this, it's clear that both companies maintain a level of mutual appreciation and collaboration. Twitch users and the Nintendo Switch community will need to explore alternative ways to enjoy Twitch streams on their devices.
