Dolby Vision has been frequently promoted by businesses in recent years, so what does Dolby Vision mean? How it differs from other video specifications, let's talk about Dolby Vision in detail.

HDR10 is not a specification of HDR. In addition to HDR10, there is a higher specification, which is Dolby Vision, developed by Dolby Laboratories. Compared with HDR10, Dolby Vision has better specifications. First of all, the brightness can be supported to 4000nits, which is four times that of HDR10. Furthermore, in the "color depth" part, 12bit is supported, and the number of color levels is dozens of times that of 10bit.

HDR10 uses a set of "static data" to correspond to the entire film. If the light and dark contrast of certain passages in the film is inconsistent, it may be dark. Dolby Vision adopts "dynamic data", which can provide corresponding data frame by frame, so that the changes of each picture meet the director's requirements, and the overall performance is better than HDR10.

However, Dolby Vision is far less popular than HDR10, mainly because HDR10 is an open specification, while Dolby Vision is a closed specification. To play the Dolby Vision effect, you must have the corresponding hardware specifications. In theory, both the player and the display device must be equipped with special chips. In addition, a license from Dolby must be obtained.
