And because Sony A9S is a 2020 model, so let's see the comparison review of Sony A90j and A80j. These two models are very popular this year, however, many people may don't know the difference and it's hard to choose for those confusing configurations and the price.

1. Appearance design

These two TVs still use a narrow bezel full-screen design with a very high screen-to-body ratio, which allows the viewer's attention to be focused on the screen as much as possible.

The bezel adopts a unibody molding process, wrapped by the body metal plate, so there is no splicing seams. A90J frame is made of thinner and transparent film resin, not considering the BM black area, the A80J bezel is about 2mm thick, and the A90J frame is less than 1mm.

Due to the special nature of the OLED panel itself, the pixels are self-luminous, unlike LCD TVs, which also need a backlight or something, so OLED TVs are basically ultra-thin, and the A80J is no exception.

Sony A80J

The back design of the A80J is basically the same as the old A8H, that is, the sides are also left empty so as to appear slimmer, while the back panel is also designed with the XR cognitive chip pattern. The A90J, on the other hand, may have a larger rear panel coverage area due to the speaker location and special cooling features.

2. Hardware Configuration

A80J uses the highest-end SOC--MT 5895, architecture A73 quad-core, main frequency 1.8GHZ, the performance is quite strong. Besides, it comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space as standard.

Four HDMI ports, of which the first and second are HDMI 2.0, the third and fourth are HDMI 2.1, supporting 4K 120hz signal input, the third port also supports eARC function at the same time. 3 USB ports.

2021 new products also all use the intelligent far-field voice control, you can wake up the voice assistant from the remote control, to give operational commands, such as the realization of the weather, search for TV shows and movies, play music, increase or decrease the volume and other functions.

Let's see the A80J HDMI2.1 input 4K 120hz signal effect.

Actual test with PS5/XSX/3070 graphics card, input 4K 120hz screen, no blurring problem with the text.

3. Picture Quality

Actually, there is no significant difference in the picture effect between A90J and A80J in standard mode, whether it is the color style / darkfield bright field detail performance/skin tone performance/motion picture smoothness and so on are basically the same, only in vivid mode, the starry sky picture, to find the A90J stars are brighter than the A80J, the picture is also overall slightly brighter than the A80J, the overall difference is still not obvious.

Here are some picture comparisons. (The top picture is Sony A90J, the bottom picture is A80J )

Only in a small section of darkness in the Dolby Vision, the A80J skin tone was found to be slightly greenish, and since the same problem was not found in other sources, it is only for reference

To sum up

If you want to have excellent picture quality performance but the budget is limited, A80J is definitely a great product that can certainly meet your needs. And A90J has no huge difference from A80J in terms of picture quality, but in the appearance/audio / AI environmental sensor regulator has a little advantage. So if you have the money to pursue high-end quality and enjoyment, you can go for A90J.
