Animal Crossing: How to welcome new inhabitants to your island?

Although gloomy the first few days, your island will eventually welcome more and more residents. Certainly, the first two thieves settle on your land at the same time as you, but the following three must however be invited when you meet them during your trips to nearby islands. The rest of the populace will come on their own to temporarily stay on your campsite , and you can then choose whether or not to invite them permanently. Finally, buying land for 10,000 bells to build a house in will guarantee that a newcomer will settle there in the following days.

Conversely, how to invite one in Animal Crossing?

Greedy, lazy, fraternal, grumpy, each inhabitant in Animal Crossing corresponds to a personality trait which influences the interactions you will have with him. Unfortunately, it happens that one of our residents is rude and we frankly do not want to reward this kind of behavior. However, it is far more complex to send a resident from his island than to invite him there.

The first reflex is obviously to address Marie, in the Office of the Residents, and to refer a neighborhood problem to her. She will then ask you which inhabitant this complaint concerns, specifying if it concerns her way of speaking or dressing. Only Marie is not a gendarme and does not have the power to dismiss a resident. Speaking to her will actually reset her clothes and the nickname a resident gives you.

The final tip would therefore be to make a resident understand that he is no longer welcome on your island. It is possible to offend a character's nerves by pushing or hitting him on the head with the butterfly net. However, this method of harassment, which is not very recommendable, does not seem to bear fruit either, so the easiest way would actually be to wait for the resident to want to leave on his own. For that, it is in fact necessary to stop all interaction with him, not to speak to him anymore and to ignore him when he runs after you to speak to you. If the character sees that he has no relationship with the player, he would be more likely to want to pack his bags. This method is all the more effective with a resident who has just arrived and with whom the player has not yet created a link.
