LG G3 and Sony A95K are both flagship OLED 4K TV models, with LG G3 being the latest model of OLED Evo launched by LG in 2023, and Sony A95K being the 2022 model. This article will compare the differences between the two models.

LG G3 vs Sony A95K: Design

The LG G3 TV has basically the same design as last year's LG G2, so you should be able to imagine how beautiful it is. Last year's G2 was one of the Gallery series, and despite LG dropping the series name in 2023, the G3 still showcases a sleek and unique design.

The TV is very thin, the panel is surrounded by a very thin metal frame, looks very delicate. The TV is wall-mounted with LG's "zero gap" stand, allowing the panel to sit flush with your wall.

The OLED Evo panel featured in the LG G3 is not only thin but lightweight enough that even a single person can easily install it. Because it is designed to be more wall-mounted, the G3 is not provided with legs. If you want to stand the TV up, you can buy a dedicated leg separately from LG.

SONY's A95K has a gorgeous design that fits its niche as a high-end TV. Its appearance is simple and features a unique stand design. When the stand is located behind the panel, you can only see the panel image from the front, which is wrapped in a frame, and the screen can be almost flush with the floor. You can also choose to flip the stand to the front of the panel so that the TV is as close to the back wall as possible.

The SONY A95K has a thicker panel than the LG OLED Evo, and uses a checkerboard design on the back of the panel to make the TV more refined. The TV comes with SONY's Bravia Cam, which you attach magnetically to the top of the panel and gives you a variety of camera functions.

The A95K comes with an aluminum remote that has a backlight so that when you pick it up, the buttons glow to allow you to operate it in the dark.

LG G3 vs Sony A95K: Picture Quality

A highlight of the LG G3 was the use of Brightness Booster Max technology, which combined with a new light control architecture and light enhancement algorithm, increased the brightness of the screen by up to 70%, according to LG. See more details on LG G3 TV Review

G3 uses a microlens array panel that focuses the light output of screen pixels through a layer of microlenses to the viewer's eyes, increasing brightness without increasing power consumption.

LG OLED Evo vs OLED panel.jpg

The LG G3 OLED Evo TV is powered by the latest Alpha 9 Gen 6 processing engine for enhanced image quality. It supports HLG, HDR10, and Dolby Vision HDR standards, which also makes the performance of games even better.

The SONY A95K's QD-OLED panel won't disappoint. It combines quantum dots with the benefits of OLED, providing higher brightness while guaranteeing rich colors. Overall, the LG OLED Evo will be brighter, while the A95K will benefit from color and detail in the highlights.

LG G3 vs Sony A95K: System

LG G3 TV WebOS 23.jpg

LG G3 OLED runs the latest WebOS 23 smart system, which is a few feature upgrades over the previous version. The home screen displays two pages of content instead of three, making the user interface simpler and more convenient.

New to G3 is a personalized image wizard feature that allows you to set the image calibration that best suits your preferences through a selection of six image preferences.

The LG G3 offers a variety of apps for you to download, including some major streaming services.

You can find plenty of streaming services and apps in the Google Play store, or you can project content from your phone onto your TV via Google Chromecast. The BRAVIA Cam cameras mentioned above can provide additional features, such as automatic calibration of images and sound based on your location.

LG G3 vs Sony A95K: Game Features

lg oled tv for gaming.jpg

The LG G3 OLED TV has four HDMI 2.1 ports, one of which also supports eARC, making it friendly for users with multiple high-bandwidth devices. It has low input latency, VRR, FreeSync, and G-Sync support, and a dedicated game mode.

Sony A95K Inputs.jpg

The SONY A95K comes with HDMI 2.1 inputs, but only two of the four HDMI ports support HDMI 2.1 as well as support for Automatic Low Latency (ALLM) and variable refresh rate (VRR). Its gaming performance could be better, so I'd recommend the LG G3 for gamers.
