More EA games will join Switch, and old games can be upgraded for free

After a disappointing 2019 fiscal year, EA had previously predicted a recovery in fiscal 2020, led by services such as "Apex Legends", "the SIMS 4", and various annual sports games. It looks like EA is still pretty accurate.

The company today announced fiscal year 2020 fourth quarter (2020.1.1-2020.3.31) results and full-year earnings. EA's fiscal year 2020 Q4 revenue was $1.4 billion, with digital revenue of $1.2 billion, accounting for 88% of total revenue. Q4's operating profit was $400 million, up 105% from the same period in fiscal 2019.

For fiscal year 2020, EA reported net revenue of $5.5 billion ($4.95 billion in the same period last year), with digital revenue of $4.3 billion ($3.7 billion in the same period last year). Net income in fiscal 2020 was $3 billion, a significant increase from $1 billion last year. Operating profit was $1.4 billion.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2021 (2021.4.1 -- 2022.3.31), EA forecasts Q1 net revenue of $1.2 billion, net income of $270 million, and net target value of $1 billion. For the full year, EA forecasts net revenue of $5.5 billion, net income of $978 million, and net target value of $5.5 billion.

EA have confirmed they will go on sale in the 2021 fiscal year 4 EA Sports game (including FIFA, Madden, NHL and an unpublished Sports game, is likely to be new skateboard), 1 Gao Qingchong plate making games, four third party game, 4 EA other games (including "Command & Conquer" heavy plate making and three unpublished game), two mobile game, a "Medal of Honor" VR games as well as the current EA games host platform for this generation of the expansion.

EA also said a number of games will be coming to the nintendo Switch this year, but the company didn't name them publicly.

EA also mentioned the possibility of a free upgrade to the next generation console for the upcoming generation games.
