New Fire OS update brings features such as picture-in-picture to Fire TV

Amazon's developer documentation relatively hides most details, and the company announced in this document that Fire OS 6 will be based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

Unfortunately, if you have a third-generation Fire TV, it seems that you can‘t update to the new system. As Amazon said on the developer page: "At present, previous Fire TV devices will not be upgraded to Fire OS6."

In general, this may mean a major leap in Fire OS capabilities, because Fire OS 5 is based on Android 5.1 or 6.0 (depending on the device).

The new operating system brings Android TV features such as Picture-in-Picture. When you browse other content, the video can continue to play in a small window.

Third-party applications that support real-time video streaming can also access Time Shift, allowing viewers to pause and reverse real-time feeds.
