Sources familiar with the matter revealed that third-party game companies were recently informed of an internal delay in the release schedule for Nintendo's next-generation console, pushing it from late 2024 to early the following year. A publishing insider stated that the delay aims to allow Nintendo to prepare more powerful first-party software for the gaming console.

The next-generation Nintendo gaming console may follow a timeline similar to the Switch, which was announced in March and released the following year.

Previously, Nvidia established a new business division dedicated to designing custom chips for hardware companies and created a specialized chip for Nintendo's next-generation handheld console, the Switch 2. Insiders revealed, "The current Nintendo Switch handheld console already uses Nvidia's Tegra X1 chip. It is expected that the new version of the Switch set to launch this year will likely feature Nvidia's custom design."

Earlier this month, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that the company's future plans for the next year will be announced at the financial results briefing around May.

The potential release of the Nintendo Switch 2 in Q1 2025 marks an eagerly anticipated milestone for gaming enthusiasts, who are eager to experience the next evolution in Nintendo's iconic gaming console series.
