OLED TV panel demands: LG Electronics 60%, Sony 20%

According to THELEC news, South Korean research company UBI Research President Choong Hoon Yi predicted that LG Display's large-scale OLED shipments in 2020 will be 3.6 million, which is 25% less than expected. Recently, at the "Next Generation Display Technology and Industry Prospects" seminar held in Seoul, Choong Hoon Yi said that Large organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels is most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. OLED is expected to ship 4.9 million pieces, The actual number is only 3.6 million, which is 1.3 million lower than expected."

Choong Hoon Yi said that companies such as Samsung Electronics and TCL have announced plans to release OLED TVs, but the demand for OLED TVs is not yet great. LG Electronics’ demand for OLED TV panels is 60%, Sony’s is 20%, and the remaining 17 companies do not have much demand for large OLED panels.

At the same time, it is expected that by 2025, Samsung's quantum OLED TV panel production will be less than 10% of the total output of large-scale OLEDs, and the remaining 90% will be LG Display.
