For many years, Sony has been one of the largest partners of Google’s Android TV platform, but sometimes the update speed may be slow. Now, a few years after its release, Sony finally pushed Android TV 8.0 to some of the oldest Bravia models.

Sony's official page pointed out that Android TV Oreo finally began to launch the 2015 Sony TV. Previously, these TVs used Google's original Android TV interface, equipped with the Android Nougat system. With the update of Android Oreo, they get a more modern Android TV interface and a modified Google Play store.

It’s surprising that Sony fully provided this update to Sony old Bravia 4K TV (2015). Considering that Sony only started preparing last year, it’s not surprising that it can take so long to push.

After updating to Android 8.0 Oreo, the following features/problems will be added, improved or resolved on Sony old Bravia 4K TV :
  • Introduced a new home screen menu
  • The "Timing" icon has been relocated on the main screen menu (upper right corner)
  • Support Google Assistant
  • Improved user experience for video, music and photo applications
  • Improved USB/DLNA support format
After updating to this software, the following functions will be deleted on Sony old Bravia 4K TV :
  • PlayMemories Online
  • IPv6 settings
  • Wi-Fi Direct standby function
  • One-click mirroring function
  • Pre-installed Playstation video
  • Assamese and Oriya in language settings
