The AppleTV did not include a hard drive like previous TVs

There's almost no input on the back of the Apple TV. It includes power ports, HDMI ports, fiber optic audio and Ethernet jacks. And nothing more. For those with the latest home entertainment Settings, that's enough. Consumers who want component connectivity or more audio options are out of luck. They may not like it, but the Apple TV is designed to be cheap and easy to use. There are a number of ports that do not reflect this.

It's also important to note that the Apple TV doesn't include a hard drive like previous TVS. Although some people think this is a problem, it is not. With the device's Ethernet and wireless-n support, streaming content to the Apple TV takes no time. In fact, no hard drives were left out during the test.

User experience

It takes almost no time to launch the Apple TV. All you need to do is connect the Apple TV's HDMI cable to the TV and plug the device into the power supply. The initial setup takes about a minute. After that, you can use the entire Apple TV feature set.

The new Apple TV's operating system mimics its predecessor. The software includes menus for movies, TV shows, Internet services and more. Owners can use the accompanying Apple TV Remote control to move around the page, or they can use the free Remote App available in the Apple App Store. In either case, operating around the Apple TV is a hassle.

Like most other Apple products, the Apple TV's user experience sets it apart from the competition. Those who use a Roku box know that it can sometimes be difficult to navigate clunky software. On the other hand, Apple's software is simple and intuitive. It provides a rewarding experience.

Content

Like any set-top box, the value of an Apple TV must come from the content it offers. Unfortunately, this is where the equipment is lacking.

Apple TV allows users to stream movies and TV shows for $4.99 ($3.99 for older high-definition movies) and $0.99, respectively. It also provides access to Netflix's instant streaming service. Apple TV also has YouTube, Flickr and Internet Radio, but those aren't the main attractions of the device.

Unfortunately, apple can't provide a compelling entertainment streaming service through the device. It lacks a list of available movies, and the company's promise to deliver content on the same day as the DVD's release is not always met. However, Apple TV offers some of the most wanted movies on the market right now, including avatars, Robin Hood and more.
