John Archer has a UR9 in for review that already took the Dolby Vision 2 firmware, and his writeup is the first one I have seen from someone driving the menus rather than reading a press release.
Two things stood out. First, most of what was announced at IFA last year is sitting there greyed out. Authentic Motion needs content carrying DV2 metadata and nobody is shipping any yet. Peacock, Canal+ and iQIYI get named as the ones promising it, which is a strange trio if you are in the US and do not subscribe to Peacock. So you get the menu, not the feature. Second, the Picture Intensity Slider does work on ordinary Dolby Vision material, five steps either side of a neutral zero, and each step is supposed to move something like thirty image parameters at once instead of being a brightness knob with a fancy name. That part I would actually use.
The bit that bothers me more is the bug he flags, where the DV2 settings start interfering with the HDR10 motion options. Firmware reaching into a picture mode it has no business touching is how you get people posting my TV looks different and I changed nothing threads three weeks later.
And nobody with an older Dolby Vision set is getting this at all. It needs the newer chip, so it lands as a buy a 2026 TV feature rather than an update your 2023 TV feature.
