Virtual Remote

G'day all,
New TCL Google TV: Tried to select a two digit channel via the on-screen virtual remote,
but it times-out before I can navigate to the second digit! Can this "window of opportunity"
be lengthened, or am I doing something wrong? Manual was no help (as expected).

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

G'day Degibbo,

It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble navigating through the on-screen virtual remote on your new TCL Google TV, particularly when trying to select a two-digit channel. Here are a few suggestions that might help you extend the "window of opportunity" and make the process smoother:

  1. Use Physical Remote: If your TV comes with a physical remote, try using it instead of the on-screen virtual remote. Physical buttons might provide a more responsive and precise input, allowing you to enter two-digit channels without timing out.
  2. Navigation Speed: Check if there's an option in your TV settings to adjust the navigation speed or sensitivity of the on-screen virtual remote. Slowing down the speed might give you more time to enter the second digit.
  3. Voice Control: If your TCL Google TV supports voice control, consider using this feature to change channels. You can often say something like "Channel 25," and the TV should respond accordingly.
  4. Firmware/Software Updates: Ensure that your TV's firmware and software are up-to-date. Manufacturers often release updates that can improve the functionality and responsiveness of the on-screen interface.
  5. Contact TCL Support: If the issue persists, it might be worthwhile reaching out to TCL's customer support. They may have specific insights into your TV model and could provide guidance or information on any potential updates or solutions.
  6. Community Forums: Explore online forums or communities where TCL TV users share their experiences and solutions. You might find tips and tricks from others who have encountered similar issues.
  7. Experiment with Different Input Methods: If your TV supports multiple input methods (such as a smartphone app), try experimenting with those to see if one provides better responsiveness for entering two-digit channels.
Remember, technology can sometimes have its quirks, and finding the right workaround might take a bit of trial and error. I hope one of these suggestions helps you resolve the issue and enhances your experience with your new TCL Google TV.

Cheers!
