LG TVs list TruMotion data and the native refresh rate of the display panel, which may be in the form of "TruMotion 120 (native 60Hz)" or "TruMotion 240 (120Hz refresh rate)". But what does it mean anyway? What's the difference between TruMotion and refresh rate? This article will help you understand.

What is the refresh rate?

Refresh rate is the number of times the electron beam is repeatedly scanned on the image on the screen(The number of times the TV screen image changes per second).

The higher the refresh rate, the better the stability of the displayed image (screen).

It is common for TVs to be labeled with 120, 240 and higher refresh rates, but these numbers are not always accurate.

The refresh rate indicates how many times per second the image on the TV screen changes. Most TVs have a refresh rate of 60, but few will list this metric. Instead, TV manufacturers use different technologies, such as MEMC, to "claim" a higher refresh rate.

What is the LG TruMotion?

TruMotion, a term commonly used by LG to promote, is not actually a unit. It's usually 2 times what we call the refresh rate, and it's a way to improve the display of the TV when the picture is on.

So when you see 120 TruMotion, it's actually equal to 60 refresh rate, that is (native 60hz) as you may see.

120 TruMotion= 60hz refresh rate

240 TruMotion= 120hz refresh rate
