Sony PS5 game console was once widely concerned after its launch, and a game console with excellent performance must be complemented by a TV to match it, otherwise, some gaming experience may be lost. This thread will discuss what type of TV is best for gaming.

Gaming TV has several main features: high refresh rate, MEMC dynamic compensation, HDMI 2.1 interface, low latency, processor performance, and large operating memory.

1. High refresh rate

The refresh rate for the game has a crucial role, most ordinary TV refresh rate is 60Hz, while the game TV is up to 120Hz. in layman's terms, the refresh rate is the number of times per second the TV screen display, the higher the refresh rate the better the picture quality is clear. So a high refresh rate will be smoother in terms of picture quality for playing games.

2. MEMC (Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation)

MEMC dynamic compensation is a very common technology in both gaming TVs and regular TVs. Simply put, it is the use of interpolation of frames in the video to solve the phenomenon that there is jitter and ghosting in the picture movement, so that the motion picture is smoother and clearer.

3. HDMI 2.1 Port

HDMI 2.1 port.jpg

HDMI 2.1 is the latest version of the HDMI specification and supports a range of higher video resolutions and refresh rates, including 8K 60p and 4K 120p, as well as resolutions up to 10K. Dynamic HDR format is also supported, and bandwidth capacity has been increased to 48Gbps .

And HDMI 2.0 transmission bandwidth of 18Gbps, does not support 8K video transmission. If you are just watching video, there is not much difference between these two kinds of HDMI.

But the higher the picture quality and frame rate, the more information needs to be transferred. So if the TV does not have HDMI 2.1 interface, even if your host performance is good, there is no way to transfer to the TV.

4. Low Latency

Input latency is generally around 15 ms, and it is usually best not to exceed 20 ms, so as to ensure a smoother game when playing. In layman's terms, this means that the player's operation is synchronized with the content displayed on the screen, and the lower the latency the better the game experience will be. TV screen with too high latency cannot respond quickly, and the game action may be out of sync with the screen.

5. Processor performance

The processor is like the brain of the TV, is the core of a TV. If the processor performance is too low, even if the TV is advertised as having the above selling points, the experience may feel different.

6. RAM

Smart TV's smoothness is proportional to the RAM, the larger the running memory, the higher the system smoothness. Generally speaking, the TV should choose a minimum of 2GB RAM, it is best to choose a 4GB RAM TV for gaming.
