To measure the picture quality of a TV, it is necessary to start from multiple dimensions such as color, brightness and contrast. Quantum dot technology solves the color performance of TVs, while miniLED technology solves the brightness and contrast performance of LCD TVs. Let's see what's good in TV with Mini LED technology.

What is Mini LED technology in TV?

To put it simply, mini LED backlight technology is to miniaturize the backlight lamp beads of traditional LED TVs. The miniLED lamp beads can be about 200um in size, about the size of a hair. The significance of making the lamp group small is that a larger number of lamp beads can be placed in the same size. At present, the backlight lamp beads of mini LED TVs on the market have reached the order of thousands, and some high-end products have reached the level of tens of thousands.

So what can so many lamp beads bring? The first is to increase the number of backlight partitions. We all know that liquid crystal molecules cannot be completely turned off. To make the liquid crystal display pure black, the best way is to turn off the backlight. Therefore, dividing the backlight into multiple partitions and performing independent switch control can well improve the problems of low contrast and poor dark field performance of LCD TVs.

The larger the number of partitions, the more fine-grained control the screen can be. Most of the traditional LED backlight TVs can only achieve hundreds of levels of backlight partitions, while miniLED backlight TVs can easily achieve thousands of levels of partitions, bringing contrast and light control performance that traditional LED backlights cannot match.

In addition, more lamp beads can also achieve higher screen brightness, allowing the brightness of the TV to easily exceed thousands of nits. MiniLED backlight technology can also greatly improve the common problems of uneven brightness and dark corners of traditional LED TV screens.

It can be said that the miniLED backlight technology has greatly reduced the contrast gap between OLED TVs and LCD TVs, allowing LCD TVs to have extremely good dark field performance.
