Microsoft has confirmed a number of technical details on the Xbox seriesX X . We had confirmation that the power of the machine would be 12 Tflops, and that HDMI 2.1 would be on the program. But another novelty was announced at the same time as the console, that of Smart Delivery. What is Smart Delivery, and why is it interesting? Here is all you need to know.

Xbox Series X Smart Delivery

Xbox Series X Smart Delivery

What is Xbox Series X Smart Delivery?

The Smart Delivery function is actually quite simple. The principle is based on the purchase of a single Xbox game, that will work for both Xbox One and Xbox X Series . Microsoft has announced that all games from Xbox Game Studios will support this feature. So, you only need to buy a game once, and in addition to being playable on both consoles, it will be optimized for Xbox Series X.

“Smart Delivery” technology ensures that you only have to purchase a title once - whether on Xbox One or Xbox Series X - to get the right game version for the console You play. We are committed to using this technology for our Xbox Game Studios titles, including Halo Infinite
Microsoft leaves it up to third-party publishers to use this principle or not, and below is the list of games that support Smart Delivery. We know for example that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a free Xbox Series X update if you bought it on Xbox One.

Which Xbox games are compatible with Smart Delivery?

Does Smart Delivery work for dematerialized and physical games?

Yes, Smart Delivery would work for both physical and dematerialized Xbox games. This means that when you buy Halo Infinite in store in disc format the day it is released, you may as well use it on Xbox One or the Xbox Series X. It is identical even if you buy it online in dematerialized format, since it will then be linked to your Xbox account.

For the moment, Microsoft has not given information for a possible similar operation with Windows.

Will the backups work on both consoles?

Yes, game backups on Xbox One will also work well on Xbox Series X with Smart Delivery. The transition from one platform to another will therefore be seamless, via a simple game update.

Is Smart Delivery a paid option?

No, Smart Delivery is neither an option nor a paid functionality. As soon as you buy an Xbox game compatible with Smart Delivery, it is automatically compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles. There is no additional cost to be expected.
