XGIMI opened orders on the TITAN Noir series back in April and I still keep coming back to the spec sheet. The Max is the one people care about: up to 7,000 ISO lumens, an RGB triple-laser engine, IMAX Enhanced alongside Dolby Vision and HDR10+, a claimed Delta E of 0.8 with 110% BT.2020 coverage, the MT9681 chipset with 4GB and 64GB, and up to 240Hz for gaming. As a list of parts it is not messing about.
What I keep tripping over is the headline. XGIMI says up to 10,000:1 native contrast, and in the same breath credits the world-first Dual Intelligent Iris System for it. Those two claims pull in opposite directions. Native contrast is what the light engine and the panel give you with nothing moving. An iris is a dynamic device that stops down on dark scenes. If the iris is doing the work, that number is dynamic contrast wearing a nicer jacket. The dual arrangement may genuinely lift the static floor as well, but nothing in the launch material separates iris-in from iris-out, and until somebody measures a full field with the iris pinned we are all guessing.
Then the pricing. Max at 2,999 dollars against an MSRP of 5,999, Pro at 2,699 against 4,999, the base model at 2,499 against 3,999. A fifty percent gap on a flagship is not a discount, it is an anchor. That MSRP exists to make the other number look generous.
Anyone here actually taken delivery since the June window? Two things I want to hear about: whether the iris pumps visibly on hard dark-to-bright cuts, and whether it can be switched off at all.
