Hisense E8G Review: A Worthy Game TV

Hisense E8G is a TV with Mini LED backlight + quantum dot wide color gamut + 120HZ screen + 1000 nits peak brightness + HDMI2.1 + Xinxin image quality chip. Is it good in using? Let's see how the Hisense E8G reviews.

1. Hisense E8G Review Appearance​


The front of the Hisense E8G adopts a three-sided narrow frame design and two-sided vertical brackets. The frame is made of metal, and the screen panel protrudes slightly forward. This design is called a floating screen, and the frame is visually narrower. The tripod is also made of metal, using electroplating process, it looks very shiny, which is also a feature of Hisense TV.

The module in the center of the bottom edge has built-in components such as breathing lights, pickup microphones, and physical buttons. The back has an all-in-one design, and the sides look thin.

2. Hisense E8G Review Configuration​


Hisense E8G uses the common high-performance MTK 9652 movement this year, A73 quad-core 1.3GHZ processor, 3GB running memory, and 64GB storage space. It supports dual-band WiFi, supports far-field intelligent voice assistants, and has good recognition rate, recognition speed, and feature richness. It supports Dolby Vision, but has boot ads. Hisense E8G supports two USB2.0 ports, two HDMI2.0 and one full-blood HDMI2.1, and the first port also supports eARC function.

3. Game​


  • Input delay​

The input delay is related to the response speed of the game operation, which is very important for gamers, and is generally difficult for normal people to perceive within 30 milliseconds. The input lag of the Hisense E8G at 4K 60HZ and 1080P 60HZ is about 13.2ms, which is good. 1080P 120hz input lag is as low as 8.8ms. For gamers, this TV won't let you experience lag in operation.

  • VRR​

Hisense E8G supports G-sync (compatible) function, which can effectively solve the problem of game screen tearing. It can also be detected by the XSX's variable refresh rate. Note that this feature needs to be manually turned on on the TV. But Sony TVs don't currently support any VRR functionality.

  • ALLM​

Hisense E8G also supports the ALLM function, which needs to be manually turned on on the TV. After turning on, it can automatically identify XSX and PS5, and automatically switch to game mode to get a low-latency game operation experience. 4. Image​


  • Image quality processing technology​

Hisense E8G adopts BOE IPS hard screen, which has poor contrast and poor backlight uniformity. Especially the four corners and the edge of the screen are prone to light leakage, which is a common defect of IPS.

The Hisense E8G uses Mini LED backlight, and the uniformity of the pure white screen is still good. Compared with ordinary backlight LCD TVs, there is no problem of dark corners that are common with direct-lit backlights.

  • Screen peak brightness​

In terms of the peak brightness of the screen, in the HDR standard mode, 5P/10P/25P can measure the peak brightness of more than 1000 nits, reaching the true HDR LCD TV standard.

  • Light control partition​


High-end LCD TVs often use checkerboard-type light control partition technology to achieve high contrast, which can achieve relatively deep blacks and high-explosive whites (such as lights, sun, explosions, etc.). Generally speaking, the more light-controlling zones, the better. Hisense 65E8G has 160 partitions, which also reaches the true HDR LCD TV standard.

  • Wide color gamut technology​


Hisense E8G adopts the quantum dot wide color gamut technology commonly used in high-end LCD TVs. The color gamut range is as high as 98% DCI-P3, which can display more colors. The color accuracy in movie mode is also very good, which can reach about 1.68.

  • Refresh rate and motion compensation​


Generally speaking, the refresh rate and motion compensation go hand in hand. Ordinary TVs are generally 60HZ screens, and high-end TVs are basically 120HZ screens. With the motion compensation algorithm, the screen fluency is smoother than 60HZ. But if the 60HZ screen + motion compensation is the icing on the cake, then the 120HZ + motion compensation is the icing on the cake.

5. Summary​

The image quality is mainly determined by the hardware image quality processing technology and software tuning. The E8G is not a low-end product with a high price. The performance of the E8G can be said to be satisfactory. From the comprehensive hardware configuration and picture quality performance, I think the E8G is worth recommending.
