South Korea's yonhap news agency reported that samsung electronics co. Ltd. and LG electronics co. Ltd. announced they would extend the shutdown of their plants in Mexico in response to local government policies.
The resumption of production at the samsung TV factory in Tijuana, Mexico, scheduled for this week, has been postponed until May 3.
LG's television plant in reynosa, Mexico, which had been scheduled to restart on the same day, announced a delay to the 26th, while its TV plant in mexicali announced a six-day delay.
As for the delay, it is mainly due to the increasing number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Mexico, which has extended the social distance from 30 this month to 30 next month.
In addition to Mexico, LG also decided to extend the shutdown of its TV plant in the Brazilian city of manaus.
