In a recent update from gaming insider Tom Henderson, it has been reported that Sony is gearing up to unveil the highly anticipated PS5 Pro gaming console by the end of the third quarter this year. Contrary to speculations, Henderson dismissed the idea of a CES 2024 reveal, emphasizing that an early announcement would potentially hinder the ongoing sales of the PS5 Slim. His insights suggest that Sony is more likely to make an official announcement towards the end of the third quarter.

Last year, Sony introduced the PS5 Slim, a streamlined version of the original PS5 with a 30% reduction in size, an expanded 1TB storage, and a "removable optical drive" design. While the performance remains largely consistent with the initial release of the PS5, the Slim version offers a more compact and storage-friendly option for gaming enthusiasts.

According to previous reports, the PS5 Pro is expected to feature an exclusive DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) function at the software level. Hardware details have also surfaced, revealing that the PS5 Pro's System on Chip (SoC), codenamed Viola, is based on TSMC's N4P manufacturing, belonging to the GFX1115 series. It maintains compatibility with the Zen2 architecture, similar to the current PS5, with a peak frequency of 4.4GHz. Each core is equipped with 64KB of L1 cache, 512KB of L2 cache, and a shared 8MB L3 cache (4MB per CCX).

Kepler, a reliable source, has further specified that the PS5 Pro's Viola SoC incorporates a total of 64 Compute Units (CU), although only 60 CU are expected to be activated in practice.

As gaming enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of the PS5 Pro, these insights into its potential features and specifications provide a glimpse into the advancements Sony is making in the gaming console landscape. The impending release promises to deliver an enhanced gaming experience, building on the success of its predecessors.
