What's the difference between horn speaker and normal speaker?

The width of the sound field, namely the width of the perceived sound source, is related to the ratio of early lateral sound energy. Due to the strong directivity of horn speakers, the energy directly radiated to the side wall is much less, so the early lateral reflected sound that reaches the human ear through the side wall is much less, which is conducive to the reduction of sound field and timbre. Because the nature of horn is an acoustic amplifier, it can be "zoom in" the SPL (sound pressure level) of sound. Traditional ball-top tweeters are less efficient, usually around 0.5%. That is, only 0.5% of the electrical energy used by the speaker is converted into the sound energy of the sound we hear. Horn is usually 10 to 20 percent or more efficient which makes it easier to reach higher volumes with the same power drive, and thus a greater dynamic range. Most movie theaters use horn speakers for their main speakers. It is recommended to choose horn for home cinema speaker.
