Recently, the director of the film "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", Chris Columbus, said in an interview with The Wrap recently that he had previewed a three-hour version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". The version includes a cut-out shot of Pippi played by Rick Mayer, which does not even appear in the final version, which is 7 minutes longer than the original.
The director said that he thinks the 3-hour movie is feasible, and they have made multiple previews. In a preview in Chicago before, they were showing a 3-hour version. However, some parents later reported that it was too long, but the child felt that it was still unfulfilled. Although the 3-hour version was accepted by younger audiences, it was eventually abandoned before it was released. Chris Columbus hopes that Warner Pictures can re-release the 3-hour version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
So will Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone release the 3-hour edited movie version?
