Knives Out

Knives Out tells the story of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey's mysterious death on the night of his 85th birthday. The mysterious man invites the detective Benoit Blanc to investigate the mysterious case. Blanc finds that all the families in the fabry family are suspected of murder. With the help of his nurse, Marta, blanc delves into the fabry family's secrets, and it seems that no one in the family is innocent. The two men worked together to solve one mystery after another, and finally found the most crucial piece of evidence.

The plot is like a classic detective thriller, in which the wealthy owner of a mansion, Harlan (Christopher Plummer), dies suddenly. Everyone who attended a dinner party at the mansion the night before is suspected of murder. Generally the same kind of film is usually to late will reveal who the murderer is, but this movie has a very different treatment: each one in several supporting role set and confession, detective Benoit Blanc to inquire about Marta, and then insert film Marta recall fragments of the night - she accidentally reversed Harlan drugs, Harlan to protect her suicide, Marta and taught how to use false appearance mislead others, excluding their suspicion. This "mystery" was solved at the beginning of the movie, so what else is worth watching after that? A typical detective mystery ends soon after the mystery is solved, but the point of this movie is not who did it, but how Marta's character has changed through it all.

From the beginning of Knives Out, the movie takes Marta to be a weak-minded woman who is viewed by the Thrombey family as an outsider. From the scenes Harlan gets along with Marta, we can see that Harlan trusts her very much. However, we also know that Rian Johnson likes to mislead the audience, and this kind of detective suspense often hides the sinister side of the main character, so the audience may have some reservations about her. But Rian Johnson adds a funny, humorous premise to the character: Marta can't lie, or she'll throw up immediately. This feature of Marta was also used by Benoit Blanc to confirm some of the latter's conjectures. Of course, Marta can pretend to vomit to mislead others, and we still can't seem to trust her completely. However, as the story goes on, we gradually find that Marta is really a consistent and kind person without any plot or ambition. At this point, the lawyers reveal Harlan's will, and things get interesting again -- Harlan leaves everything to Marta, and his children will inherit nothing. Marta was suddenly the enemy of the whole Thrombey family.

Knives Out depicts Marta's good side and the evil side of the Thrombey family. Michael Shannon, Don Johnson and Toni Collette play the core members of the family -- Harlan's children. They fall out with Harlan and each has a reason to kill him, but they Don't. The first half of the movie mainly describes how the family is torn apart, and people don't value family ties, or even like each other. One of the most important scenes in the movie is the discussion of politics in the hall. Some people hold very conservative and anti-immigration politics. Others argue the opposite, calling the former nazism and fighting back. In addition to revealing the relationship between the supporting characters, the discussion also touched on one of the film's main themes -- immigration. In the movie, Marta is the daughter of an illegal immigrant, but she keeps it a secret. So instead of hting Marta, the Thrombey family treats her like an outsider. Harlan's granddaughter Meg (Katherine Langford) is the only one who CARES about her. But when lawyers released Harlan's will, stating that Marta was the sole beneficiary of his estate, she immediately rallied the crowd.

They couldn't believe why Harlan had left all of his estate to an outsider. It was his family's property and should have been inherited by a member of the family. They also immediately tried to smear Marta as a bad person, suggesting that she might have drugged or seduced Harlan. In their eyes, Marta is not a member of the family, not the blood of their family, not entitled to inherit Harlan's property, she must have done something bad to make Harlan do it. Meg, who has always been kind to Marta, also points out that Harlan's decision is unfair to the family members. In other words, she feels that outsiders are not entitled to inherit Harlan's property. All this may seem like a family affair, but it's also a part of what many americans think about immigrants: they feel that they are taking away their resources and that it is unfair and unfair for them to live and work legally in the United States.

As the plot progresses, Marta is threatened by the Thrombey family and is blackmailed by a mysterious man. She is afraid that the revelation that she indirectly killed Harlan will lead to her mother's involvement and deportation. This is the biggest test Marta faces in the whole movie. The real test is not how she gets through the difficult time, but a moral test -- whether she is willing to do anything to protect her mother and hide the truth. Marta's rise to power in the second half of the film, as she tries to outsmart Benoit Blanc and meets the mystery man who blackends her, seems to suggest that she will do something terrible to hide it all. But in the end, she didn't hurt anyone and instead brought back the housekeeper who had Harlan's report, because that's her nature. The truth of the whole thing is revealed later in the film, which I won't go into here, but which is crucial to the theme of the whole film, and gives us a better understanding of Marta's character, why she deserves Harlan's trust, and why she deserves his inheritance. This ending also makes the author feel very much, so the whole thing is really an unfortunate tragedy, a lot of things could have been avoided; But in this tragedy, we can feel a rare trust and love. The ending of the movie is also a rare positive and optimistic ending in the near future. I believe the audience will be happy about it, because "a good man is always safe".

Knives Out breaks the usual pattern of detective and suspense films and brings the social issues of the real world into the story, adding a little modern feeling to the film. Ana DE Armas is playing the leading role of Marta this time. With the setting of the role, she can easily please the audience. Her reaction when she knows the truth is really touching, and I believe her relationship with Harlan has also touched many audiences. The other main character in the movie is Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc, who is smart but cartoonish. The singing and the dialogue about "winter jangle" add a lot of humor and laughter to the movie, which is one of the highlights of the movie. As for the other characters, they don't get a lot of screen time, but the cast brings a lot of character traits to the table, especially Chris Evans's character, zinger ii, whose dialogue is deadly and mean-spirited. In addition, the soundtrack infuses the film with a classical flavor, while adding a sense of mystery and drama to match the film's many unexpected plot developments.
