Nexigo Aurora Pro Mk2 on a 120in Fresnel, and the heights are only half in

Somebody posted their room over on the hometheater sub and the gear list held my attention longer than the photos did. Nexigo Aurora Pro Mk2 UST throwing at a 120-inch Fresnel screen, an Onkyo RZ30 running it, Shield TV as the source, and two height speakers just went in after the ceiling and side walls got painted. Two more are still to come for a full 5.1.4, and one wire track is still missing on the right side.

The Fresnel part is what I would want to hear more about. That kind of screen is the reason UST rooms look punchy with a lamp on, but the contrast is bought with a viewing cone that turns mean off-axis, and at 120 inches it is not a cheap thing to get wrong. With a three-seat reclining sofa, whoever draws the far cushion is not watching the same picture as the person in the middle. I have seen people chase that for a year and end up moving the seating rather than the screen.

Painting the ceiling and side walls before the speakers went up was the smart move and it rarely gets credit. A UST fires at the screen from an absurd angle and everything that misses the material lands on the wall a foot away, so a pale wall next to the frame washes out the edges of your own image.

Where I would push back is the height layout. With only the front pair in, the temptation is to aim both at the main seat and call it done, but once the rears arrive that toe-in usually has to come back out or overhead pans bunch up at the front of the room. Far cheaper to sort now while the wire track is still going in. Anyone running four heights in a room this size, did you angle them or leave them firing straight down?

Fresnel at 120 is a commitment. Mine looks incredible dead centre and noticeably duller two seats over. Nobody warns you about that before the money leaves.

Onkyo RZ30 with a UST is a solid pairing, plenty of processing left over for four heights. Curious what he is using for room correction though.
