Samsung QN90B vs Sony A80K: Picture Quality

The Samsung QN90B is impressively bright, with its excellent high peak brightness enough to combat glare in bright rooms. In some of the larger bright scenes, its automatic brightness limiter reduces its brightness, which may occasionally distract you.

The QN90B's low native contrast ratio is due to Samsung's addition of a wide viewing angle layer to the TV screen, which improves the TV's viewing angle rather than the narrow viewing angle of a regular LED TV. But at the same time, it also reduces the contrast ratio. However, the TV's local dimming function can effectively improve the TV's contrast ratio and render excellent deep blacks in dark scenes.

Like other OLED TVs, the Sony A80K has a perfect contrast ratio for uniform deep blacks. Thanks to Sony's Cognitive Processor XR, the image is adjusted to become more realistic and capable of rendering accurate colors.

Unfortunately, the Sony A80K is not bright enough and it struggles to resist a lot of glare in rooms with a lot of ambient light or very bright. The OLED panel will also give you the wide viewing angles you expect, and you'll be able to get accurate and unfaded images even when off-center on the screen.

Samsung QN90B vs Sony A80K: Design

Samsung QN90B Design.jpg

The Samsung QN90B has a simple and stylish design with a very thin bezel and stands that are well-made. The centrally located metal stand is small enough that the TV can be placed on a narrow tabletop, but the TV can wobble a bit.

The back of the TV is very clean and the plastic with etched lines is high quality. The back of the panel provides access to cable management. As an LED TV, the QN90B is thin enough that you can wall mount it and the TV is able to sit flush with the wall.

Sony continues its minimalist design with the A80K, with extremely thin bezels that blend well into the environment. Sony's One Slate design gives the screen a monolithic look that works well. The narrow silver stand supports the screen well, and you can choose from three different positions. The wide and narrow positions are suitable for different sizes of furniture, and you can also raise the TV in the soundbar position to place the soundbar.

Sony provides covers on the back of the TV for cable management, making it difficult to access the inputs when you wall mount the TV.

Samsung QN90B vs Sony A80K: Inputs

The Sony A80K supports up to 4K 120Hz with low input latency in gaming mode, providing a responsive gaming experience. Only ports 3 and 4 of the TV's four HDMI ports support HDMI 2.1, so if you have multiple high-bandwidth devices, you will have to connect HDMI 2.0.

It supports ALLM and VRR and is compatible with PS5 and Xbox.
