Samsung expects LCD shipments to reach 22.9 million due to the sharp increase in display demand in the context of global home environment, which is nearly 40% higher than last year. In recent years, LCD market competition has intensified, panel prices have plummeted, LCD panel profits hit the bottom line of the industry, Samsung has decided to give up LCD panel market, not only closed the LCD factory in South Korea at the end of last year, but also decided to completely stop LCD panel production at the end of this year.

At present, Samsung display has closed most LCD panel production lines, but then Samsung's market research shows that in the context of global home environment, the demand has increased significantly. In this regard, Samsung display is expected to increase LCD shipments by 22.9 million pieces, up nearly 40% from last year.

On the other hand, because Samsung's own brand TV, flat panel and other products still have a high demand for LCD, Samsung decided to give all orders of its own brand LCD products to other manufacturers such as Sharp and Innolux. In addition, restricted by the contract, Samsung's Suzhou in China plant may operate until 2021.

However, affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Samsung still plans to reduce the LCD TV panel production of about 18.3 million sets at most. According to previous reports and the continuous release of Samsung micro LED, QLED and other TVs, Samsung still focuses on QLED quantum dots and micro LED screen technology.
