After updating to tvOS 27.2 the Now Playing screen in Apple Music looks a lot busier. The coloured background that drifts behind the album art now shifts faster and harder than it did before, and I am clearly not the only one who spotted it. Nothing about it in the release notes I have seen, so this is one of Apple's quiet visual tweaks.
On a phone I would not care. On a 65 inch OLED in a dim room it is a different thing. A big slow gradient was easy to ignore while music played; a quick pulsing one pulls your eye to the screen when you are trying to do something else, and on a projector it lights the whole room up in waves. The one upside for OLED owners who leave music running for hours is that moving content is kinder to the panel than a static screen, so this may be a small win for burn-in.
What I would like is a toggle. Reduce Motion under Accessibility is worth trying, because on iPhone it calms similar effects, though I have not seen anyone confirm it touches this one on tvOS. If it doesn't, the workaround is letting the screensaver take over during playback, or using HomePods as the output and switching the TV off entirely.
Between the AirPlay Live Activity coming back for some people and the banner that pops up when you pause, 27.2 is starting to feel like the update where Apple got a bit too keen on things moving around on screen. I would rather it got out of the way.
