135 inches at seven feet on spandex - does the weave show at that range?

I sat about eight feet from a 120 for a year and what eventually pushed me back wasn't the picture, it was that I couldn't take in a whole frame without moving my head. So a 135 inch 16x9 at 6.5 to 7.3 feet depending on recline, with a 70 degree figure quoted for it, gets my attention straight away. That is well past what most seating guidance suggests and it will suit some people completely and give others a headache in twenty minutes.

The part I'd want to poke at is the screen rather than the distance. Milliskin spandex as a cheap acoustically transparent surface is a well travelled DIY route and it genuinely works, but you pay in two currencies. Light passes through the weave, so whatever the projector is rated at you are not seeing all of it on that fabric, and the trade gets harsher as the screen gets bigger. Then there's texture. At seven feet from a 135 your eye is close enough to resolve the material itself on bright uniform scenes, and that's exactly the distance where DIY AT screens start showing what they are.

Building the subs and speakers into a two foot deep front wall in a room only about twelve feet deep is the smart move here though. That's a baffle wall in everything but name, and in a space that tight it buys back floor you cannot afford to lose.

Anyone who has run milliskin at close range, does the weave show up on snow and white credits, or is that overblown?
