Sony has recently rolled out a test version system update for the PS5 gaming console, bringing dual controller support, Dolby Atmos sound, improved system UI, and adding compatibility for an 8TB M.2 SSD hard drive.

Mark Cerny explained that Sony's approach to Dolby Atmos sound is distinctive from others. Sony's solution ensures "latency-free support for Dolby Atmos sound." With the support of Tempest 3D Audio Tech, the system's Ambisonic audio channels can be rendered through various speakers, including headphones, stereo TV speakers, and 5.1/7.1 channel audio systems, using Sony's Dolby Atmos sound technology.

Furthermore, Mark Cerny mentioned that Sony's Dolby Atmos sound technology not only delivers audio from all directions to players, creating a more immersive experience, but also promises to bring even higher-quality audio as engineers continue to refine the technology.

Sony PlayStation has already pushed the PS5 Beta version of the system update to test users. However, the exact release date for the official version has not been announced yet. Currently, only PS5 players in the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France can participate in the Beta firmware testing. This update showcases Sony's commitment to continually enhance the gaming experience for its users, delivering superior audio quality and immersion through cutting-edge sound technology.
